Proximodistal and caudocranial position of the insertion of the patellar ligament on the tibial tuberosity and patellar ligament length of normal stifles and stifles with grade II medial patellar luxation in small‐breed dogs

Abstract Objective To assess the role of proximodistal and caudocranial relative position patellar ligament insertion on tibia length‐to‐patellar length ratio (PLL:PL) in small‐breed dogs with without grade II medial luxation (MPL). Study Design Retrospective study. Sample Population Dogs weighing ≤15 kg, including 43 stifles MPL 34 control stifles. Methods The was determined as a using vertical (VTT) horizontal distance (HTT) between tibial tuberosity plateau divided by (TPL). In addition, PLL:PL angle (TPA) were determined. Results VTT:TPL lower affected (95% CI: 0.86–0.94) than group (0.93–1.01; p = .01). No other difference identified normal Conclusion only this study consisted more proximal MPL. Clinical Significance will result patella trochlear groove may contribute to development Potentially, also affect risk recurrence after surgical treatment.
